DOR Racing has brand new
buggy that is currently underway for the 2010 season.
Our new buggy is based off a Jeep Wrangler TJ (97-06 model year).
It is built using about 4 feet of factory frame to keep the tech
requirements and the rest is hand built from DOM tubing.
The buggy has some big
changes for 2012 including swapping the suspension
to a 4 link suspension front and rear. F-O-A
shocks has teamed up with us this year to supply new 14” coilovers in all four
cornets. The drive train is brand
new from BD Turnkey Engines in
Reno
,
NV
. The motor is 5.3L LS with a Z06
cam and fully tuned. Transmission
was supplied by Jer-C’s transmissions in
Delmar
,
DE
. It is a built 700r4 with a manual
valve body and mated to a D300 which is twin sticked so the front and rear drive
train can be control individually. The
power is put to the wheels using some heavy duty driveshafts from Quigley Motor
Company in PA. The axles are out a 1
¼ ton military Chevy Blazer (D60 front, 14 bolt rear) each of which are geared
to 4.56 and locked. We choose 4.56
gears (which may seem high to many) because with our extra crawl box it will
offer the low end gearing we need crawling, but also allow us to run at higher
speeds for the endurance racing events. We
also use a PSC full hydraulic steering system to help steer our 40” Maxxis
tires.
The team does have some
changes coming to the buggy on the off season that will dramaticly change the
look as well as help the buggy perform better on the course. Stay tuned
and follow the build on Facebook, Pirate4x4, JeepForum, PavementSucks, and many
other forums! |
